MARA is a German-language pop-rap artist signed to the music publisher LionMusiX. She writes about self-worth, the pressure to compare yourself with others, and the quiet sentences people use to make themselves smaller – rapped verses, a sustained sung chorus, no posturing. Her subject is unconditional self-worth: not »good enough«, but enough. »Good enough« is a standard you either meet or miss – »enough« is not an achievement, it is a state. MARA writes against comparison, against likes and numbers as the currency of your own worth, and against the habit of making yourself smaller so that others appear larger.
Musically she keeps the two levels apart: what self-doubt says is rapped – plain and fast. What stands against it is sung – slow and wide. Emotional pop-rap in German, without pathos and without a self-help tone.
